Spread wide open

There's a myth among fishermen that if they happen to see clouds such as those in this picture clicked yesterday, they are bound to have a great haul. Their reels might even crack open. Not sure what happened in the sea but something unusual took place on the land. Last evening, the sky cracked open for about half an hour. Mumbai as well as Navi Mumbai had temporary relief from inhuman summer and except the hawkers, not many complained. Whoever said all the better things in life are free of cost was either a fisherman or absolutely right.

Passing judgements

Since local trains are an integral part of my mundane existence, i come across several young unmarried couples every other day. Some of them look cute while others are mere wannabes heavily influenced by Bollywood chartbusters. I try not to get caught glancing but it's well nigh impossible to ignore two individuals with an aura of genuine comfort between them and that too in a reasonably crowded moving vehicle. Needless to add, i slyly check out their faces because more often than not, they indicate disasters that might unfold in the near future. One can make out that the guy just wants to get laid whereas the girl is bound to end up with a broken heart. In many cases, the girl looks like somebody who'd make sure he ditches the very first woman of his life. And in others, the guy is as good an asshole as she's a bitch. Perfect. If only all matches were like that. Of course, these are my observations. Having said that, seldom do i come across a couple who make me proud of my eyesight. That piece of joy, as of now, lies with those elderly couples holding hands to help each other with their steps. From what i can deduce from these sorry developments is that i should mind my own business and work on my imaginary love life.

A modern-day loser

Every morning he wakes up feeling like shit. This is before he has tea. Later, he somehow gathers strength to look at himself in the mirror. His face reveals way too many questions and his bloodshot eyes, way too many answers. Trying to figure out what drove him to today, he continues to stare at all the possibilities. Not a thoroughbred narcissist but being a human nonetheless, the staring contest remains winnerless. At last, he asks out of curiosity what has he done to make this world a better place to live in. After a lot of permutation and subdued bitterness, he arrives at the same point with the same answer: "Hmmmmm....nothing!" At that instance, the tea's spell on his eyes goes for a toss and the modern-day loser in him promptly goes back to sleep hoping to wake up when today is over.

Just Another Stupid Post

I talk a lot about life. And death. And everything that mingles in between. But I mostly stick with life. It’s easier to tattle on something you’re experiencing on a daily basis. Of course, death is a handy topic too but being alive is the biggest reality. Trying to sprinkle some gyan about life is an intriguing exercise. It may make others go “You need to get a life!” or something in that line but trust me, they don’t say anything to your face and whatever they think in their empty head is their own personal business. Whatever. I can even bet that almost each one of us spew philosophical nonsense on life, knowingly or unknowingly. It’s like a validation of all the time you spent on this lonely planet.

Interestingly, we refer to life as a third person. Most of the words we use to describe it is inspired from songs we hear, dialogues we rote on screen, news we read and stories and poems we learnt as a kid. Yes, not to deny that considerable amount of it is based on personal inexperiences, too. Situations vary. Expressions vary. For example, when we are happy, we don’t jump around thanking our life for being so kind and shit. The same reaction isn’t true when unfavorable events take place. Why me? How unfair! FML!...... follows. Needless to say, life is exaggerated so it’s quite normal to see its nuances pumped up via words. I

Almost everyone’s ultimate dream is to lead a perfect life. It could be for anything – love money, fame, peace, industry, benevolence, etc. In truth, very few pursue this relentless dream as the idea of perfection is hard to overcome. For the rest of us, talking helps. Hearing your voice may be the easiest task but that’s when reality kicks you in the balls. The thing is, our approach towards life is totally different from the way life approaches us. We are like life’s guinea pigs. Most of us have no clue what we want to do with our lives. Some do. But the worst are those who know exactly what they want to do but are doing nothing about it.

Moreover, there is no dearth of words of wisdom when it comes to how you should live. That’s how it is.

After reading this, you must be cursing “You need to get a life!” to me. Fair enough. If I had the kind of life I wish I had, I wouldn't have been bothering myself with this stupid blog either.
